We’re looking for fresh voices and writing that makes us want to turn the page. We welcome work in Afrikaans and English. If your book has been waiting for its moment, let’s meet it. Upload your manuscript, a short author bio and a synopsis in Microsoft Word format.

YOUR MANUSCRIPT

1. Upload the complete manuscript as an editable Word document (.docx or .doc). Add a title page with your book title, author name, email address, contact number, genre, language and total word count.

2. Use a clear 12 pt font, 1.5 line spacing, standard margins and page numbers. Start each chapter on a new page. For poetry, preserve the line breaks and spacing your poems need. Check spelling and remove comments and unresolved tracked changes before uploading.

 

3. Writing for younger readers? Tell us the intended age range and whether your book is a picture book, early reader or chapter book. Upload the complete story in Word, even if it is short. Illustrations are not required at submission stage. If included, place them in the Word document and credit the illustrator.

YOUR AUTHOR BIO

Tell us who you are in about 100–150 words. Include where you are based, your writing interests and any relevant publications or achievements. First manuscript? That is welcome too. Save your bio as a separate Word document.

 

YOUR SYNOPSIS

Give us a clear overview of your book in one to two pages. For fiction, include the main characters, central conflict, key developments and ending. Please include spoilers: we need to understand the whole story. For poetry or non-fiction, explain the themes, structure and focus. Name your intended readership and save the synopsis as a separate Word document.

 

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT

Upload all three Word documents together through the submission form. Use clear filenames so we can keep your work together, for example:

• latest manuscript version uploaded

ORIGINAL WORK & RIGHTS

Submit your own original work and ensure you hold the rights needed to offer it for publication. Tell us if any part of the manuscript has been published before, including online or through self-publishing.

SUBMITTING ELSEWHERE

If another publisher accepts your manuscript while it is under consideration at Minimal Press, please let us know promptly and withdraw your submission if it is no longer available.

WHEN YOU WILL HEAR FROM US

Please allow up to 12 weeks from the date of submission for feedback. If you have not heard from us within that period, please consider your submission unsuccessful.

Individual editorial feedback and detailed reader’s reports are not guaranteed.

PDFs, scanned pages and image-only manuscripts will not be accepted. Submitting a manuscript does not guarantee publication.
