Thicket: Shades from the Eastern Cape
Thicket pays tribute to the landscapes and wildlife of South Africa’s Eastern Cape. Written after a heart attack and during the isolation of the COVID-19 lockdown, the collection explores mortality, memory and human responsibility towards the natural world.
Harry Owen sets the region’s wild beauty against ecological destruction, human intrusion and social inequality. Through close encounters with animals, plants and landscapes, he examines our intimacy with a vulnerable world.
